Ouagadougou: A Friday mosque was inaugurated in Rassomd, in the commune of Tougo, with prayers for peace. Muslim worshippers from Rotto, in the village of Rassomd, commune of Tougo in the province of Zondoma, inaugurated a Friday mosque on Friday, July 17, 2026. The ceremony was marked by prayers for the return of peace to Burkina Faso and blessings for the fighting forces. The new religious infrastructure will now serve as a gathering place for Muslim worshippers for Friday prayers, but also as a place to promote peace, social cohesion, and living together.
According to Burkina Information Agency, in his sermon, Imam El Hadj Mahamadi Traor invited the faithful to make this mosque a space of communion and understanding among members of the community. He also urged them to increase their prayers for peace and to morally support the forces engaged in the fight against insecurity. "We must at all times and in all places pray for the return of peace and encourage our FDS and VDP, because it is they who allow us to practice our religion in peace," said Imam Mahamadi Traor.
For the chairman of the mosque's management committee, Soumala Romba, the completion of this building is a source of great satisfaction for the local population. "This infrastructure is a source of pride for our village. It is the result of the contribution of the sons and daughters of the community who mobilized to make it happen. We hope that it will be a place where the faithful can gather in peace and brotherhood," he stated. According to him, the construction of the mosque also reflects the community's commitment to strengthening religious and social values in the village of Rassomd.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Muslim worshippers, religious leaders, and local experts, who came to express their gratitude and offer prayers for peace and stability in the country.
