Fulani Community in Banzon Vows to Boost School Enrollment

Banzon:The Fulani camp of Nablo-Djassa, located in the commune of Banzon, has pledged to increase the school enrollment of their children, including girls, after participating in an awareness session with educational and municipal authorities.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the meeting highlighted the low enrollment rates at the Nablo-Djassa Public Primary School, with CCEB Jean Ernest Sanon noting that few children from the Fulani community attend the school despite their significant presence in the area.

Spokesperson Abdoulaye Sidib addressed the challenges faced by the community, particularly the distance between the encampment and the school, but expressed appreciation for the authorities' efforts and confirmed the community's commitment to enhancing children's education.

Si Poda, President of the Special Delegation of Banzon, emphasized the importance of education for both individual and collective development, pointing out the state's investments in educational infrastructure. He urged parents to enroll their children in school, stressing the critical role of girls' education in advancing families and communities.

After the session, camp residents committed to enrolling their children in school this fall. The PDS (Democratic Party of Senegal) praised the community's engagement and urged continued collaboration with educational services to improve enrollment rates. Si Poda also reminded the public about the upcoming mandatory helmet law effective October 1, 2026, across the national territory, calling for compliance with this road safety measure.
