This Tuesday, October 1, 2024, the commune of Salogo, located approximately 30 km north of Zorgho, welcomed the provincial authorities for the official launch of the 2024-2025 school year. This symbolic moment, which marks the resumption of classes in preschool, primary, post-primary and secondary schools throughout Burkina Faso, was chaired by Ms. Aminata Sorgho/Gouba, High Commissioner of Ganzourgou Province. She called for responsibility from all stakeholders.Accompanied by a delegation composed of provincial directors and heads of services as well as departmental authorities, Mrs. Sorghum first went to the central school "A" of Salogo to open the school year at the preschool and primary levels. She then went to the departmental high school of Salogo to mark the start of school activities in the post-primary and secondary levels.During this visit, the High Commissioner took the time to address students, teachers and parents, emphasizing the importance of collective commitment to ensure a successful sc hool year. After symbolically calling the roll and seating some students in their classes, Ms. Sorgho congratulated the educational stakeholders for the results achieved during the past school year and expressed the hope that the new year would be even more successful. She encouraged teachers to invest themselves with rigor and dedication, urging them to "contribute to the training of quality men and women capable of meeting the challenges of the well-being and development of the future generation." To parents, Ms. Sorgho reminded them of their crucial role in the daily monitoring of their children. According to her, "the lack of rigorous monitoring is often the cause of school dropouts."The High Commissioner also sent a direct message to students, urging them to be punctual, diligent and disciplined. 'You are the future of the nation, be respectful to your teachers and parents, and cultivate excellence,' she said. She concluded by reiterating her availability to support all stakeholders in the education s ector to ensure quality education in Ganzourgou province. However,a worrying observation was noted both: the number of boys, in primary and post-primary education, is lower than that of girls, a phenomenon attributed to the gold rush. Ms. Sorgho firmly called for action to curb this phenomenon, recalling that the education of boys is just as crucial as that of girls.Provincial education officials, Nobila Célestine Zagré/Zoungrana for preschool, primary and non-formal education, as well as Salifou Séré for post-primary and secondary education, also expressed their gratitude to the High Commissioner for his commitment and invited all stakeholders to resolutely set to work to make the 2024-2025 school year a success. Thus, the start of the school year in Salogo opens under good auspices, with strong commitments on the part of the authorities, teachers, parents and students to build a promising future for the youth of the province of Ganzourgou.Source: Burkina Information Agency
