Ouagadougou: The Vice-President in charge of teaching, educational innovations and professionalization, Bal© Bayala, inaugurated a three-day international symposium of geographers designed to develop sustainable responses to the challenges posed by climatic and anthropogenic crises affecting territories.

According to Burkina Information Agency, Professor Bal© Bayala commended the Geography Department's initiative in organizing the event. He highlighted that these conferences are not merely academic but serve as catalysts for knowledge and innovation, providing spaces for dialogue and pedagogical advancement. Professor Bayala emphasized the value of experience sharing, particularly between coastal and Sahelian countries, as a mutual resource that can enrich global research.

The symposium, themed "Transformed territory, shaped or reconstructed territory: territory as an object of study for the geographer," addresses the urgent needs of current times. Professor Bayala noted that geographers are specialists in spatial management, and this event aims to provide insights and solutions to the rapid changes affecting living spaces.

For the duration of the symposium, teacher-researchers, experts, doctoral students, and students from across the sub-region will convene to share perspectives and propose concrete solutions. Dr. Ulysse Emmanuel Ou©draogo, head of the geography department, expressed enthusiasm for the colloquium, noting that 130 to 150 presentations will be delivered by participants from various countries.

Mr. Ou©draogo stated that discussions will focus on several critical areas, including the transformation of territories due to human and natural dynamics, sustainable land-use planning, resilience to crises, and issues related to territorial governance.
