Rambo:The grand final of the Rambo Youth Tournament's third edition, celebrating the resettlement of local villages, concluded on Saturday with Gombr FC defeating FC Sougri Nooma 5-0.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the tournament was presided over by Comrade Abdoul Razack Sawadogo, the president of the special delegation of Rambo, and took place under the theme "Youth, peacebuilding and population resilience after a crisis: what is the responsibility of young people in the commune of Rambo?". The event was blessed by Naaba Sugri of Rambo.
Gombr FC from Kalsaka took an early lead in the match, scoring in the 25th and 32nd minutes. Despite efforts from FC Sougri Nooma to recover, Gombr FC maintained their momentum and secured a decisive 5-0 victory. This win ensured that the trophy would return to Gombr in the Kalsaka district.
Chairman of the organizing committee, Sayouba Oudraogo, reported that nine teams participated in the competition, which saw a total of 61 goals scored, along with 33 yellow cards and two red cards issued. Oudraogo emphasized the importance of unity for community development and called on municipal authorities to build a wall around the municipal stadium.
The tournament aimed to foster social cohesion and resilience within the community through sports. Oudraogo also expressed gratitude to the national authorities, the FDS, and the VDP for reclaiming local lands.
The event was attended by several administrative and traditional dignitaries. The PDS of Rambo commended the initiative, urging young people to use social media responsibly and encouraging them to engage with their representatives for any concerns.
In addition to the football tournament, a women's cycling race was held as a prelude to the final. Ten women were awarded prizes, with the first-place winner receiving a bicycle, a hygiene kit, and a cash prize. The victorious football team was awarded jerseys, the trophy, and a cash prize.
