Good governance and promotion of ‘buying local’ on the cover of Burkinabe dailies

This Thursday’s publications highlight good governance and the promotion of “consuming local” in Burkina Faso.

“Promotion of local consumption: The courtroom costumes of magistrates and clerks are now in Faso Dan Fani”, is the headline of the state daily Sidwaya.

The public newspaper, through a document from the communications department of the presidency of Faso, specifies that the Council of Ministers yesterday Wednesday, decided that magistrates and clerks now wear outfits, in Faso Dan Fani during their hearings.

The state daily maintains that according to the Minister in charge of Justice, Edasso Rodrigue Bayala, these new courtroom costumes for magistrates and clerks made entirely from Burkinabe cotton are “five times cheaper” than those imported until now.

Sidwaya notes that discussions are ongoing between Minister Bayala and other legal professionals such as lawyers, bailiffs and notaries to follow suit.

The dean of Burkinabe newspapers, L’Observateur Paalga, emphasizes that magistrates and clerk
s, during their hearings, will now be in Faso Dan Fani.

The newspaper Le Pays, for its part, indicates that the government wants to promote local consumption in Burkina.

In the same vein, the private newspaper, L’Express du Faso, published in Bobo-Dioulasso, reports that the governor of the Hauts-Bassins region, Mariama Konaté/Gnanou visited three industrial units in the town of Sya.

According to the Bobolais daily, Mrs. Konaté, within the framework of “consuming locally” encouraged the promoter of these industrial units.

Under another chapter, L’Observateur Paalga displays on its first page: “Good governance in Africa: The poor marks of the MO Foundation”.

The colleague informs that the Mo-Ibrahim Foundation made public yesterday Wednesday, its 2023 report on good governance in Africa.

The dean of private dailies in Burkina Faso adds that according to the rapporteurs, the year has not been the best for the country.

According to him, the causes are linked to conflicts, insecurity, the reduction of demo
cratic spaces with repercussions on basic social sectors such as education, health, access to drinking water, etc.

The private newspaper Le Pays, by the way, notes that out of 54 countries on the continent, Burkina occupies 24th place, specifying that the said report covers the decade 2014-2023.
