Ouagadougou: The president of the committee for the recovery of fines and court costs of the High Court (TGI) of Fada N’Gourma, Salam Ouedraogo, has issued an invitation to individuals convicted within the court’s jurisdiction to voluntarily settle their final fines with the court manager. This request was made through a press release dated September 8, 2025.
According to Burkina Information Agency, individuals have been given a one-month deadline from the date of their summons to comply with this payment directive, as stipulated in Article 622-6 of the Code of Criminal Procedure. This initiative aims to encourage compliance and streamline the process of fine recovery.
Salam Ouedraogo further warned that failure to meet this deadline could result in judicial constraints, which may involve the detention of the convicted individual at the remand and correction center. This is in accordance with articles 622-1 and subsequent provisions of the code. Nonetheless, the enforcement of such judicial constraints does not exempt solvent individuals from fulfilling their financial obligations, as mandated by article 622-19 of the Code of Criminal Procedure.
