Fada n'gourma: The Attorney General at the Court of Appeal of Fada N'Gourma, Barnabe Compaore, held a press conference on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, to discuss the upcoming Open Days of Justice scheduled from May 7 to 9, 2026. He outlined the main directions of the event, which aims to make justice more accessible and understandable to the public.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the organization of these Open Days is part of the implementation of the national criminal policy 2024-2027. This initiative is designed to bring justice closer to the people by contextualizing offences and adopting new legal frameworks. Among the innovations, the Attorney General highlighted the adoption of new laws, including the revamped community service law and the "Buudkaore" law, which integrates traditional rules as recognized legal norms.
Barnabe Compaore emphasized the increased serenity in handling judicial cases as a significant achievement. He addressed the challenges within his jurisdiction, noting that land disputes remain prevalent and have considerable impacts on social cohesion. He also pointed out offences like rape and disputes related to traditional chieftaincy as persistent issues in the area.
The Attorney General urged public participation in the Open Days, which will offer free legal consultations by legal professionals. This initiative aims to bridge the gap between justice and the public, enhancing their understanding of judicial processes. The event, themed "Justice, security and resilience: an institution at the service of the people," seeks to facilitate direct exchanges between judicial actors and citizens, thereby strengthening trust in the justice system.
