Fada N'Gourma: The Secretary General of the Eastern Region, Siaka Ouattara, officially launched a regional marketing campaign for 30 tonnes of sugar from the National Sugar Company of Como© (SN SOSUCO) in Fada N'Gourma. The campaign includes 15 tonnes of lump sugar and 15 tonnes of granulated sugar.
According to Burkina Information Agency, this initiative aligns with President Ibrahim Traor©'s vision of fostering endogenous development as the cornerstone of Burkina Faso's economy. The aim of the campaign is to promote local production and ensure the availability of "made in Burkina Faso" sugar across the national territory at prices regulated by the state.
Regional Trade Director Boukar© Ou©draogo detailed the pricing, setting the cost at 800 CFA francs for 1 kg of lump sugar and 650 CFA francs for 1 kg of granulated sugar in major cities like Ouagadougou, Bobo-Dioulasso, and Banfora. In the Eastern region, prices account for transportation, resulting in 825 CFA francs for lump sugar and 675 CFA francs for granulated sugar per kilogram.
Mr. Ou©draogo also mentioned that the maximum purchase limit is set at five packets of lump sugar and five sachets of granulated sugar per person. Sale points have been established across all regions within the regional trade directorates to facilitate this marketing effort.
Yacouba Kina expressed approval of the government's strategy to ensure sugar availability during a crucial period for Muslims. He highlighted that this initiative demonstrates the government's consideration for the populace, particularly the disadvantaged, and expressed hope for its continuation.
