Gourma: The residents of Yendabili celebrated the end of 2025, marking the arrival of the new year 2026, with joy and jubilation through popular events, family gatherings, and moments of social communion. From the moment the start of 2026 was officially announced, the people of Fada took to the streets in large numbers to express their satisfaction and renewed hopes.
According to Burkina Information Agency, honking horns, singing, dancing, and hugs punctuated the night of December 31, reflecting the enthusiasm of the population to welcome the new year. In neighborhoods and in the city center, families and groups of friends came together for shared meals, cultural evenings, and prayers, imploring peace, security, and better living conditions for the coming year.
Some places of worship also held religious services to thank God for the past year and entrust 2026 to his protection. Several citizens interviewed expressed their joy despite the difficult circumstances, while also offering wishes for social cohesion, resilience, and victory for the Defense and Security Forces.
"We hope that 2026 will be a year of peace and progress for Fada N'Gourma and for all of Burkina Faso," said one resident. The celebration took place in a generally calm atmosphere, under the watchful eye of the security forces mobilized to ensure the safety of the population during the end-of-year festivities.
