Koudougou: The governor of the Nando region, Adama Jean Yves Béré, presided over a validation workshop for the Capacity Building Plan (CBP) of special delegations, an initiative of the OKDB program funded by the European Union. The aim is to enhance local governance and resilience amid security challenges.According to Burkina Information Agency, the workshop, attended by Marc Duboncel, head of cooperation for the European Union (EU) delegation, marks a critical step in implementing the 2021-2027 multiannual financial framework. The "Support in the Ouagadougou - Koudougou - Dédougou - Bobo triangle" (OKDB) program is a strategic effort by the Burkinabe government and its partners to stabilize the Nando, Bankui, Sourou, and Guiriko regions.The Regional Director of Economy and Planning (DREP) of Nando, Djidjouma Sanou, stated that the validated Capacity Building Plan (PRC) resulted from a participatory territorial diagnosis (DTP). "This plan aims to equip local authorities within the framework of delegated p roject management and local development management, currently overseen by prefects in special delegations," he explained. The document will guide investments and training for the effective functioning of the region's 38 municipalities.Marc Duboncel emphasized that this support for governance is part of a global vision concerning human capital and agri-food development. "Special delegations play a crucial role in the urban economy. With this plan, we want to strengthen their ability to do their jobs effectively and equip young people to access decent employment," he highlighted. Discussions are already in progress with the government for the project's next phase from 2027 to 2030.Participants, including high commissioners and prefects, reviewed the draft report by the National Technical Assistance, suggesting amendments to ensure the document's quality before its official validation. The workshop also presented data collection frameworks for the 2026 review of the National Development Plan (NDP).In closi ng, the governor expressed satisfaction with the discussions' quality and encouraged stakeholders to take necessary steps for the plan's effective implementation. The OKDB program's technical assistance funded the activity, reinforcing the cooperation between Burkina Faso and the European Union for the benefit of vulnerable populations and internally displaced persons.
