Ouagadougou: The government has adopted two significant bills, focusing on the revision of the Constitution and the protection of personal data. The Council of Ministers has approved a draft constitutional law that aims to revise the existing Constitution.According to Burkina Information Agency, the first proposed change targets the organization and administration of the governance system. The intention is to reposition the State as a central figure in economic and social development by emphasizing the role of decentralization and administrative districts in territorial management.The second proposed change involves the merger of the High Council for Communication (CSC) and the Commission for Information Technology and Freedoms (CIL). The responsibilities of these institutions have increasingly overlapped with the advancements in information and communication technologies, especially in terms of protecting online privacy.This reform is designed to enhance the effectiveness of regulating online content b y assigning a single entity the dual responsibilities of communication regulation and personal data protection. Furthermore, the Council has given its consent for the draft constitutional law to be forwarded to the Transitional Legislative Assembly.
