Ouagadougou:Prime Minister Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel Oudraogo inaugurated the Faso Keoogo school complex in Bonheur-Ville, Ouagadougou, on Monday. The project, which cost over one billion CFA francs, was financed entirely by the government and is designed to accommodate more than 1,400 students.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the new educational facility consists of a three-story building with 16 classrooms and restrooms on each floor. The design includes features for individuals with reduced mobility, and the total construction cost is 1,044,800,000 CFA francs.
The school complex is part of the Presidential Initiative for Quality Education for All and stands on a 35,384 square meter plot declared of urgent public utility in May 2024. Prime Minister Oudraogo emphasized that the complex reflects the educational aspirations of the Popular Progressive Revolution and marks the beginning of a broader transformation of Burkina Faso's education system. By 2027, fifteen similar complexes are planned across fifteen provinces, with buildings initially featuring 18 classrooms, expandable to 24.
Minister of Basic Education, Literacy and the Promotion of National Languages Jacques Sosthène Dingara highlighted that this development addresses the shortage of public schools in rapidly growing areas. He described the inauguration as opening "a horizon of knowledge and possibilities for our children," fostering progress for the nation.
Named "Faso Keoogo," the institution aims to promote civic and patriotic values alongside academic education. Prime Minister Oudraogo urged the educational community to maintain the infrastructure and use it to cultivate responsible citizens.
