Governor Babo Pierre Bassinga’s Encouragement Visit to Douroula Commune

Mouhoun: The governor of the Bankui region, Babo Pierre Bassinga, conducted a field visit to the commune of Douroula to encourage the population and decentralized services amid a challenging security context. The visit, which took place on March 6, 2026, aimed to commend the resilience of the people and the commitment of state services in continuing socio-economic activities.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the governor led a large delegation comprising the High Commissioner of the Mouhoun province, regional and provincial directors of several ministerial departments, and officials from the Defense and Security Forces. The delegation's first stop was the school complex housing the Douroula 'A' public primary school and the departmental high school. Education officials praised the teaching staff's resilience in continuing their mission under difficult conditions. Philibert Hyacinthe Coulibaly, the regional director of basic education in Bankui, urged teachers to uphold efforts to promote the national education system and outlined ongoing reforms in the sector.

On behalf of the local community, Mamadou Soar e, president of the school council, expressed gratitude to the authorities and paid tribute to the Defense and Security Forces, Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland, and teachers for their dedication. Zata Koeta, the communal coordinator for women, highlighted issues such as access to drinking water and the need for more medical staff to improve care for pregnant women.

Governor Bassinga praised the teaching staff's determination, emphasized the importance of education, and called for parental involvement in children's schooling. The visit included distributing school supplies and office equipment and a meeting with the canton chief of Douroula, where the governor paid his respects to customary and religious authorities.

At the Douroula Health and Social Promotion Centre, the governor acknowledged the challenges faced by health workers and promised to relay their concerns to relevant authorities. The visit ended with the governor providing food assistance to households and planting trees to symbolize the commitment to environmental sustainability. The governor also urged the local population to support the fight against terrorism and avoid complicity with armed groups.
