Bougouriba/bondigui: The Governor of the Dj´r´ region, Siaka Barro, convened a pivotal meeting on Tuesday, March 10 in Bondigui with key stakeholders to discuss the development priorities of the commune. The gathering aimed to convey the national authorities' message, collect concerns from the local population, and exchange views on ongoing development initiatives in the locality.

According to Burkina Information Agency, Governor Barro, accompanied by regional directors and a large delegation, encouraged the people to embrace the ideals of the Popular Progressive Revolution and support the authorities in implementing public policies to enhance the living conditions of the Burkinabe. The meeting attracted a significant turnout from the fifteen villages within the commune, with participants welcoming the Governor's visit to discuss pressing local issues.

The Governor was received warmly in Bondigui by the Prefect and President of the Special Delegation of the commune, Bassi¨re Patrick Bedel, alongside administrative, traditional authorities, and community leaders. The regional delegation paid customary respects at the palace of His Majesty, the Chief of Bondigui, before proceeding to a town hall meeting, which quickly filled up due to the large number of attendees from various social groups.

Governor Barro highlighted the purpose of his tour as a means to communicate government initiatives and efforts aimed at the welfare of the populace, while also gathering community concerns to identify viable solutions. During the discussions, representatives from diverse groups, including customary and religious authorities, women, youth associations, the elderly, Village Development Committees, traders, mining artisans, internally displaced persons, and departmental technical services, voiced their grievances.

Key issues raised included resuming housing development in the town center, upgrading the Bondigui Health and Social Promotion Center to a medical center, constructing a secondary school for villages located 140 kilometers from the town center, acquiring an additional tractor for the municipality, and increasing agricultural inputs. Additionally, there were concerns about delays in electrifying certain technical services and schools.

Regional directors provided clarifications and potential solutions for some concerns, while Governor Barro instructed technical officials to closely monitor the grievances. He emphasized that while some issues require time to address, others could be resolved through community organization and endogenous initiatives.

Governor Barro concluded by acknowledging the strong participation and hospitality extended to the delegation. He urged the population to meet their tax obligations to support national development efforts, referencing the recent launch of a tax compliance campaign in Diebougou.

This meeting aligns with Governor Barro's ongoing efforts to foster direct dialogue with citizens, initiated at the start of 2026, to enhance citizen involvement in local development projects.
