Baz¨ga: The governor of the Dj´r´ region, Siaka Barro, met with key stakeholders in the municipality as part of a visit to establish contact and discuss the concerns of the population. The meeting took place on Monday, February 2, 2026, with representatives from civil society in the commune of Zambo.
According to Burkina Information Agency, Governor Siaka Barro arrived in Zambo accompanied by the high commissioner of the Ioba province, Innocents Ouattara, and a large regional delegation. The delegation first paid a courtesy visit to the land chief of Zambo, Bobdar Dabir e, who offered blessings and wished them a fruitful stay. The group then moved to the communal grounds, where a large crowd greeted them with songs and expressions of joy. The traditional chief reiterated his blessings during the opening speeches, underscoring support for regional authorities and the community.
Tasser Badini, President of the Special Delegation of the Zambo commune, expressed satisfaction that Zambo was chosen for the governor’s tour. He emphasized that the visit reflected the governor’s commitment to understanding local realities and providing solutions to the challenges faced by residents. He also reaffirmed the support of Zambo’s residents for the President’s vision through various initiatives.
A performance by a traditional dance troupe from the Ligu¨ Taw parish enlivened the ceremony before Governor Barro addressed the gathering. He highlighted the objective of the meeting as gathering concerns from key stakeholders to consider collaborative solutions. He noted the poor condition of access roads and invited residents to engage in open dialogue.
During discussions, representatives from the Village Development Councils, youth, traditional authorities, and women voiced concerns including poor road conditions, lack of drinking water, absence of streetlights, shortage of teachers and desks, and lack of a built prefecture building. Regional directors from Gaoua responded to these issues in their respective areas.
Governor Barro concluded by encouraging the population to prioritize locally sourced solutions while awaiting state support. He urged them to adopt responsible behaviors in managing public property. On the sidelines, the governor visited the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland and local hunters, expressing gratitude for their security efforts. He also visited the newly opened territorial gendarmerie brigade, commending the staff for their dedication. Dabir e Mis¨wni Piah, a notable resident, attended the ceremony, adding significance to the event. The regional delegation, satisfied with the discussions, expressed intentions to return for further initiatives in the Zambo commune.
