Governor of Goulmou Region Initiates Appointment Process for People’s Legislative Assembly

Goulmou: The governor of the Goulmou region, Ram Joseph Kafando, has announced the commencement of the appointment process for representatives to the People's Legislative Assembly (ALP) for the Goulmou and Tapoa regions. This information was communicated to civil society through an administrative notice dated April 10, 2026.

According to Burkina Information Agency, this initiative is part of the implementation of Article 15 of the Charter of the Revolution, which modifies the composition of the People's Legislative Assembly. The updated article ensures that each region has a full member and an alternate representative in the Assembly.

The appointment process is structured in three stages to promote inclusivity in the selection of representatives. Initially, at the departmental level, prefects are tasked with gathering key stakeholders to select a representative and an alternate by April 13, 2026.

Subsequently, at the provincial level, selected department representatives will convene under the guidance of the High Commissioners to choose a representative and an alternate for each province by April 14, 2026.

Finally, at the regional level, provincial representatives will assemble under the supervision of the governor to appoint the regional representatives for the People's Legislative Assembly by April 15, 2026.

The statement clarifies that the successful candidate will emerge from among the candidates and alternates selected through this comprehensive process. Governor Ram Joseph Kafando called upon all stakeholders to exhibit civic responsibility and good citizenship, ensuring the process occurs in a peaceful and inclusive setting.
