Dori:The governor of the Liptako and Soum regions, Abdoul Karim Zongo, has appealed for collective mobilization in the fight against vector-borne diseases. He stressed that combating these diseases should not be the sole responsibility of health services but a shared duty requiring community involvement.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the call was made during the launch of the third phase of the National Vector Control Days (JNLAV) in Dori. The event was attended by administrative authorities, teaching staff, Defense and Security Forces, and representatives of youth and women's associations.
Scheduled for October 3-4, 2026, in the Liptako and Soum regions, the JNLAV initiative aims to enhance efforts against malaria and other vector-related diseases. This campaign includes community operations to clean up and eliminate mosquito breeding sites.
Governor Zongo highlighted that mosquito proliferation is often due to waste accumulation and stagnant water. He urged the community to regularly clean concessions, schools, markets, and public spaces, clear gutters, and remove garbage. He also emphasized the importance of eliminating stagnant water and destroying larval breeding sites.
He called on citizens to participate actively in these efforts, advocating for the sanitation and elimination of breeding grounds to become a routine practice. This initiative aims to protect the health of the populations in Liptako and Soum sustainably.
