Sissili: The Governor of the Nando region, Comrade Adama Jean Yves Br, spearheaded a mission to the Sao/Lama artisanal gold mining site in the municipality of Silly. The mission aimed to gather firsthand information and initiate the formalization process of the mining site.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the delegation included the High Commissioner of the province of Sissili, Comrade Twind Isaac Sia, and the President of the Special Delegation of Silly, Comrade Christophe Bonkoungou. Their goal was to assess the mining activities' impact and engage directly with the artisanal miners. During the visit, Governor Yves Br highlighted the importance of balancing mining activities with the preservation of the Forest Management Project (CAF). He expressed satisfaction with the support shown by local authorities and miners towards the formalization efforts.

The Regional Director of Energy, Mines, and Quarries for Nando, Comrade ric Br, pointed out the site's economic potential, underscoring its role in driving socio-economic development in the region. He also emphasized that ensuring environmental protection is crucial for the formalization process.

Comrade Louis Nbi, the Regional Director of Water and Forests for Nando, assured that environmental considerations are being taken seriously. He mentioned that future studies will focus on mitigating environmental impacts, with the Forest Management Project also serving as an income source for local communities.

President of the Special Delegation of Silly, Christophe Bonkoungou, along with representatives of the gold miners, expressed their satisfaction with the visit. They acknowledged the regional authorities' interest in addressing their concerns despite the challenges posed by the winter season.
