Manga: The governor of the Nazinon region, Massadalo Yvette Nacoulma, called on Monday in Manga for the constituted bodies to renew their commitment to the success of the Confederation of Sahel States (AES), on the occasion of the solemn flag-raising ceremony marking the second anniversary of the organization.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the ceremony brought together administrative, military and paramilitary authorities, as well as key stakeholders from the region. On this occasion, the message from the President of Burkina Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traor©, who is also the President of the Confederation of Sahel States, was read to those in attendance.
In his message, the Head of State recalled that the creation of the Alliance of Sahel States on September 16, 2023, and then the establishment of the Confederation on July 6, 2024, reflect the will of Burkina Faso, Mali, and Niger to build a space based on solidarity, sovereignty, collective security, and development.
He indicated that, despite security, economic, diplomatic, and media challenges, the Confederation has made progress, including the strengthening of political and diplomatic cooperation, better coordination in the fight against terrorism, the consolidation of confederal institutions, and progress towards greater economic integration.
The President of the Confederation also affirmed that efforts will continue in the areas of collective self-defense, energy and food sovereignty, industrialization, local processing of resources, free movement of people and goods, as well as scientific, technological, and educational development.
He paid tribute to the Defense and Security Forces, the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP), the martyrs who fell in defense of the sovereignty of the Member States, and the victims of terrorism, before inviting the people to remain united in the face of attempts at destabilization and to take ownership of the roadmap for Year II of the Confederation.
On the sidelines of the ceremony, Ms. Nacoulma announced that the Nazinon region is among the two winners of the 2025 edition of the National Tree Day (JNA). She specified that this distinction rewards the results obtained around the grove of medicinal plants in Guiba, the site which hosted the launch of the national initiative by the President of Faso.
