Zoundweogo: The governor of the Nazinon region, Massadalo Ivette Nacoulma, invited the population in Nobere on Thursday to a return to their roots, during the regional launch of the 4th edition of the Burkinab¨ Heritage Month, in the presence of administrative and customary authorities as well as many inhabitants who came to celebrate the cultural riches of the land.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the 4th edition of Burkina Faso's Heritage Month, launched on April 18 in Ouahigouya by the Prime Minister under the theme: "Heritage and cultural diversity: commitment, role and responsibility of actors", will run until May 18, 2026. Delivering the message of the President of Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traore, the governor emphasized that culture constitutes the foundation of any nation aspiring to true sovereignty.
"Culture is the deep identity of our people. It is the foundation of our resilience and our march towards endogenous development," she said. Ms. Nacoulma also urged the population to reconnect with their ancestral values. According to her, this month dedicated to heritage is an invitation to draw upon their roots in order to better meet contemporary challenges.
The president of the special delegation (PDS) of Nobere, Pierre Kafando, expressed his gratitude to the regional authorities for choosing his municipality, which he described as a land of hospitality and a significant site in the history of Naaba Bilgo. He reaffirmed his commitment to supporting initiatives to promote local heritage.
The representative of the canton chief of Nobere, the Dapoya Naaba, highlighted the importance of preserving cultural identity among young people in the face of outside influences. "If you don't know where you come from, you can't know where you're going," he reminded them.
The ceremony featured artistic performances showcasing the cultural diversity of the region, including traditional dances such as the guenguere and the ki¨gba. The governor and the canton chief also released doves, symbolizing peace and unity, which was applauded by the audience.
Guided tours were organized to emblematic sites, including the bracelet site and the tomb of Naaba Bilgo's mother, located in the village of Donssin. The Burkinabe Heritage Month thus offers the population the opportunity to visit tourist sites, consume local products, and promote endogenous know-how.
