Ouagadougou: The Governor has banned access to a disputed plot of land to prevent clashes. The Governor of the Kulse region, Blaise Ouedraogo, has prohibited access to a plot of land of more than 57 hectares, the subject of a dispute between the villages of Yilou, in the province of Bam, and Zaonna/Saorzi, in the province of Sandbondtenga, in order to avoid recurring confrontations between populations.
According to Burkina Information Agency, an administrative statement signed yesterday, Tuesday, announced that this measure follows regional decree no. 2025-044/MATM/RKLS/GKYA/CAB. It concerns a site located outside of a housing development, along the RN22, covering an estimated area of 57ha 68a 78ca.
The Governor recalls that this decision is taken in view of the persistence of the land conflict and invites the populations of the two localities to strictly respect the measures taken, in the spirit of order and discipline advocated by the national authorities. He warned that any offender would be subject to the penalties stipulated by law.
Given the current security context marked by the fight against terrorism, the Governor called for understanding and civic responsibility from all in order to preserve peace and public order. As a reminder, the two communities clashed on Friday and Saturday, causing injuries and material damage; traffic on National Route 22 was also temporarily blocked.
