Governor Promotes Community Policing Initiative in Nazinon

Harare: "Make the Yaka-Kisso-Tikari police your preferred instrument for security and social cohesion," urges the governor. The governor of the Nazinon region, Massadalo Yvette Nacoulma, launched the community policing initiative called Yaka-Kisso-Tikari on Tuesday in Manga. She took the opportunity to encourage residents to embrace the initiative and make it their primary tool for security and social cohesion.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the Yaka-Kisso-Tikari community policing initiative aims to strengthen security through close collaboration between defense and security forces and citizens. Governor Massadalo Yvette Nacoulma welcomed the implementation of this approach, which she described as "more community-oriented", designed to better meet the security expectations of the population.

She stressed the need for collective ownership of the system. "The success of the Yaka-Kisso-Tikari police will depend heavily on its appropriation by the population," she said. Addressing the various social components, including communities, public and private actors, young people, women, men and the elderly, Ms. Nacoulma urged them to fully embrace this security tool.

Henri Jo«l Sanou, the regional director of the National Police in Nazinon, paid tribute to the fighting forces engaged in the fight against terrorism. He highlighted the increasing complexity of managing internal security, characterized in particular by rapid urbanization, increased population mobility and the diversification of forms of crime, compounded by the terrorist threat.

In this context, the Yaka-Kisso-Tikari police force appears as an appropriate response, based on prevention, proximity, and citizen participation, he indicated. Explaining the significance of this name, he specified that "Yaka", "Kisso" and "Tikari", which respectively mean "neighbor" in moor©, bissa and kassena, the main languages spoken in the Nazinon region, reflect the desire to build a "neighborly police force", close to the people and attentive to their concerns.

This approach aims to establish a climate of trust, promote dialogue and encourage the flow of information in order to prevent threats. The Yaka-Kisso-Tikari police force is thus reinforcing existing mechanisms, with the ambition of consolidating social cohesion and establishing lasting security in the Nazinon region.
