Tenkodogo: The governor of the Nakambe region, Yiye Abraham Somdo, visited the construction site of the tomato processing plant on Tuesday, where the project is estimated to be 73% complete. Prior to this visit, he encouraged local stakeholders during the flag-raising ceremony at the Tenkodogo High Court.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the rotating raising of the national colours took place this Tuesday at the High Court of Tenkodogo, under the chairmanship of the governor of the Nakambe region, Yiye Abraham Somdo. The ceremony was attended by representatives of the state and court staff. It included a presentation on the workings of the justice system, followed by a visit to the construction site of the tomato processing plant, which is estimated to be 73% complete.

The president of the Tenkodogo High Court, Raymond Koulb¨gue Sanogho, welcomed the choice of his institution to host the flag-raising ceremony. He reiterated that justice is a public service at the heart of the administration's operations. According to him, any dysfunction in the judicial system has repercussions on governance, with populations appealing to administrative authorities in case of difficulties.

The deputy prosecutor of Burkina Faso, Falalou Namoano, presented the organization and missions of the Tenkodogo High Court. He indicated that the institution relies on several actors, including the judges responsible for judging cases, the prosecutors responsible for prosecuting offenses, and the court clerks responsible for authenticating judicial documents. He also presented the different chambers of the court, namely the correctional chamber, the criminal chamber, the civil chamber, and the social chamber. The missions of the administrative court were discussed, particularly the resolution of disputes between the administration and citizens.

Furthermore, Mr. Namoano mentioned the reforms introduced, including alternatives to imprisonment, such as penal composition and community service. Following the ceremony, the delegation led by the governor visited the site of the tomato processing plant under construction. The representative of the project owner, Hermann Latif Bounkoungou, indicated that the work has reached a completion rate of 73%.

The infrastructure built includes administrative buildings, production platforms, storage facilities and a wastewater treatment plant. According to Governor Yiye Abraham Somdo, this infrastructure aims to enhance the value of local products, particularly tomatoes grown in the region. He indicated that this facility will help limit the sale of low-priced produce to neighboring countries and improve farmers' incomes. He also encouraged the public to consume local products, in accordance with national guidelines.

This activity is part of the Days of Patriotic Commitment and Civic Participation. It helped to bring judicial actors closer to the population and to present initiatives related to local transformation and economic development in the Nakambe region.
