Zondoma: The Basic Education District (CEB) of Bassi wrapped up its cultural and sporting activities on May 9, 2026, presided over by President Amidou Dembele of the Special Delegation of Bassi. The highlight of the event was the final football match where Guiri-Guiri School emerged victorious with a 2-0 win against Pella School, earning the title of champions for the 2026 season.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the event featured a variety of cultural performances on May 8, including lip-syncing, traditional dance, a parade, and a showcase of local dishes. The football final took place on the morning of May 9 at the Bassi communal field, where Guiri-Guiri School significantly outperformed Pella School. A total of 27 schools participated in the competition.
Basile Sawadogo, head of the Sports and Culture Office, acknowledged the collective efforts of all participants in ensuring the event's success, despite the inevitable challenges faced. The presence of the provincial director of preschool, primary, and non-formal education's representative further added to the ceremony's significance.
Amidou Younga, Head of the Bassi Basic Education District, highlighted this edition as a testament to resilience amidst current challenges. He praised Basile Sawadogo and all contributors for their dedication to making the event successful.
