Hamza Yacine Clinches Third Stage Victory in Tour du Faso

Léo:Algerian cyclist Hamza Yacine emerged victorious in the sixth stage of the Tour du Faso, held over a 140.49 km course from Ouagadougou to Léo. Yacine secured the win through a mass sprint, marking his third stage victory in the competition, despite a strong challenge from Burkina Faso's Paul Daumont.

According to Burkina Information Agency, Daumont had initially looked poised for a potential stage win. He broke away alongside Barthélemy Yaméogo and Dutch cyclist Jannes van Weele, managing to secure a 3-minute, 20-second lead over the main group. Daumont also claimed victory in the second intermediate sprint at Sapouy.

However, van Weele's puncture and Yaméogo's fallback left Daumont to continue solo against a well-organized peloton. The Algerian and Moroccan teams intensified their pursuit, with Yacine positioned strategically by his team. The peloton eventually caught Daumont, paving the way for Yacine's decisive sprint finish.

Yacine completed the stage in 3 hours, 9 minutes, and 56 seconds, averaging a speed of 44.380 km/h, while Daumont finished in 46th place. In the overall standings, South Africa's Gustav Basson remains the leader, holding the yellow jersey. Yacine retains the green jersey for points, while Burkina Faso's Soumaïla Ilboudo and Morocco's Youssef Bdadou maintain their positions in the white and pink jerseys, respectively.

The Burkinabe team continues to lead the team standings, ahead of Morocco and Mali. The seventh stage, extending 144.02 km, is set to connect Ouagadougou to Koupéla.
