Sanguie: Health workers in the Reo health district were celebrated for their dedication and commitment during a ceremony commemorating the days of excellence, held on April 17 and 18. The event was observed by AIB on site.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the ceremony, themed "Health resilience: what endogenous strategies for resource mobilization for better health in our communities?", was hosted at the Women's House in Reo. The High Commissioner of Sanguie province, Ms. Talari Germaine Ouoba, presided over the event, which also saw attendance from the Governor of the Kadiogo region, with Ms. Lea Pepin Garane/ Bationo as the patron.
In her speech, the High Commissioner praised the health workers from the five communes within the district-Dassa, Godyr, Didyr, Reo, and Kordie-for their dedication to providing quality healthcare. She encouraged the province's residents to engage more in the health sector and expressed gratitude to partners for their support, emphasizing that "saving a life" is crucial for national development.
Dr. David Nikiema, the Chief Medical Officer of the Reo district, highlighted that the initiative aligns with the Ministry of Health's directive to enhance staff motivation. The two-day event featured activities such as a popular cross-country race, open days with free health screenings, and a radio program.
The event also included a gala match between health workers and the Defense and Security Forces, a sanitation day, and board games. Several categories received recognition in the 2026 edition of the event. The Mouzoumou Primary Health Center (CSPS) received the first prize for the best healthcare facility. Mr. Pingdwende Antoine Zongo, the Head Nurse, attributed the award to his dedicated team.
Ms. Lea Pepin Garane nee Bationo, the event's patron and a retired midwife, encouraged the staff to remain committed, emphasizing the need for personal and collective investment in healthcare.
The 2026 days of excellence in the Reo health district concluded with a sense of acknowledgment and a reinforced commitment to enhancing health services for the community's welfare.
