High-Capacity Motor Pump Introduced to Boost Onion Production in Bonza

Solenzo:Onion farmers in Bonza, located approximately 20 kilometers from Solenzo, have received a high-capacity motor pump to enhance their agricultural activities. The equipment was officially handed over on Monday, October 26, 2026, in Solenzo by Sanfiénalé Joseph Sirima, the High Commissioner of Banwa, as part of the "Women's Entrepreneurship" sub-project led by the Ministry of Family and Solidarity.

According to Burkina Information Agency, High Commissioner Sanfiénalé Joseph Sirima advised the beneficiaries to maintain the equipment diligently and use it responsibly in a collective manner. He also urged them to maintain cohesion within their association, avoiding conflicts that could undermine their collective efforts. Additionally, Sirima encouraged the women producers to leverage agriculture as a catalyst for local development, wealth creation, and the improvement of living standards for women and their families.

The motor pump, with a capacity of 100 cubic meters per hour, is expected to enhance the working conditions of the beneficiaries, facilitate plot irrigation, and encourage the expansion of cultivated areas. This initiative aligns with efforts to promote the economic empowerment of rural women and coincides with the International Day of Rural Women celebration.

Sylvain Bonogo, the provincial director of Family and Solidarity, noted that this support underscores the ministry's commitment to bolstering the productive capacities of rural women and aiding them in developing sustainable income-generating activities. He emphasized that this initiative is intended to improve the beneficiaries' living conditions and their economic empowerment.

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Ramata Guimbou expressed satisfaction, highlighting that the acquisition of the motor pump opens new opportunities for the women producers of Bonza. She indicated that the machine would enable them to cultivate larger areas for onion production and develop other crops, thereby strengthening their financial independence. For these rural women, whose agricultural activities are a significant income source, the motor pump represents a crucial tool for increasing production capacity and reinforcing economic autonomy.
