Bam: The High Commissioner of Bam Province, Karim Ouedraogo, paid a solemn tribute this Friday, October 31, to the martyrs of the events of 2014 and 2015, in the presence of the province’s leading figures.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the initiative by High Commissioner Ouedraogo saw the civil society of Bam observing a minute of silence at the High Commission of Kongoussi. This act was in memory of the martyrs who lost their lives during the popular uprising of 2014 and the failed coup of 2015.
In his address, Mr. Ouedraogo acknowledged the bravery and sacrifice of those who perished for the ideals of freedom, justice, and dignity for the Burkinabe people. He emphasized that their sacrifice serves as an enduring inspiration for the pursuit of peace and prosperity. He stated, “Their sacrifice remains a flame that illuminates our path towards a future of peace and prosperity. Eternal tribute to the martyrs of Burkina Faso. Our martyrs did not die in vain. Their courage fuels our determination to build a strong, united and sovereign nation,” while also appreciating the mobilization efforts of the active forces.
The High Commissioner highlighted that collective prayers were held on October 24 within the Muslim community and on October 26 within the churches and temples of the province to honor the deceased.
Expressing his gratitude, Mr. Ouedraogo acknowledged the people’s continuous involvement in provincial and national activities, underlining the significance of unity for the development and sovereignty of Burkina Faso. The ceremony, marked by solemnity and patriotism, was attended by prominent figures, religious representatives, citizen watchdogs, and numerous citizens who gathered to pay their respects to the martyrs.
