Houet Section Condemns Attempted Coup and Supports President

Bobo-dioulasso: The National Coordination of Citizen Watch Associations (CNAVC), Houet section, held a press conference at the Dafra Youth Meeting Space in Bobo-Dioulasso to denounce the attempted coup d'tat that was thwarted on the night of January 3-4, 2026.

According to Burkina Information Agency, spokesperson Amad Belem addressed the media, describing the incident as a "serious attack against national sovereignty" and the ongoing process of reconquest in Burkina Faso. Belem pointed to a group of civilians and military personnel, allegedly manipulated from abroad, and identified former Lieutenant-Colonel Paul-Henri Sandaogo Damiba as the alleged mastermind behind the plot.

The CNAVC/Houet expressed its unwavering support for the President of Burkina Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traor, urging the population to remain vigilant and cooperate with national institutions. The coordination called for the perpetrators to be brought to justice and reiterated its commitment to defending the territorial integrity and ideals of the Popular Progressive Revolution.
