Zoundwéogo:Artisan miner Ibrahim Belem, also known as 'Tout petit Belem,' has covered the school council fees for 607 students from three public primary schools in the commune of Gogo. The total contribution, amounting to 607,000 FCFA, was made to support students in Zirbaré, Zaptinga 2, and Toécin schools.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the handover of the funds took place on Wednesday, October 21, 2026. The event was attended by school principals, teachers, and members of the school councils. The donation fulfills a promise made by Belem to aid educational institutions in his hometown.
The initiative benefits 272 students in Zirbaré, 219 in Zaptinga 2, and 116 in Toécin. Each parent is typically required to pay 1,000 FCFA per child for school council fees, and Belem's donation relieves these families of that financial burden.
Halilou Tiemtoré, director of the Zirbaré public primary school, expressed appreciation for the contribution, highlighting its importance in addressing financial challenges faced by parents. The funds will be used for essential school maintenance, such as repairing furniture and ensuring the smooth operation of the schools.
Tiemtoré also encouraged other community members to emulate Belem's example of solidarity. Belem's gesture is seen as enhancing learning conditions and fostering community involvement in local development. This action underscores the importance of utilizing local resources and skills for community advancement.
