AS Douanes of Burkina Faso has inherited AS Garde of Niger for the African Champions League while Etoile filante de Ouagadougou (EFO) will play Casa Sport of Senegal in the Confederation Cup, verdict of the draw carried out on Tuesday in Cairo, Egypt by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) for the interclub competitions.
AS Douanes, champions of Burkina Faso, now know their opponent in the CAF Champions League. It will be AS Garde du Niger back and forth. The winner of this double confrontation will face Espérance Sportive de Tunis.
The EFO in the CAF Confederation Cup will have to get rid of Casa Sport of Senegal if it wants to continue the competition. In the event of qualification in this double confrontation, the winner will meet Rivers United of Nigeria.
It is Al Ahly of Egypt who is the title holder in the Champions League while in the Confederation Cup, it is the USMA of Algeria, the holder.
54 clubs from 42 CAF member associations are involved in the African Champions League this season, while 52 clubs representing 41 CAF member associations are taking part in the CAF Confederation Cup.
The first legs are scheduled to be played on August 18, 19 and 20, while the return matches will take place on August 25, 26 and 27.
