International Women’s Day Celebrated in Rondolga with Focus on Empowerment

Ouagadougou: International Women's Day was celebrated in the village of Rondolga in the commune of Bassi on Sunday, April 12, 2026, under the banner of resilience. The annual event marked the 169th International Women's Day and was infused with the spirit of the Popular Progressive Revolution (RPP) advocated by Captain Ibrahim Traor©, the Head of State.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the celebration was not just a festive occasion but also a moment for reflection and action. Sanata Ou©draogo, Special Advisor to the President and guest of honor, highlighted the transformation of the day from mere festivities to a platform for taking concrete steps toward the empowerment and economic and social development of women. The event received support from several sponsors, who expressed their commitment to backing such initiatives and encouraged the community to support women as key pillars of society.

Minata Belem, the women's representative, emphasized that the success of the Progressive and Popular Revolution is linked to their struggle. She called on all women in Burkina Faso to actively engage in the country's economic and social empowerment, while honoring the Defense and Security Forces (FDS) and the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP).

The day concluded with a display of unity, featuring a parade that showcased the various activities of women, reinforcing the theme of empowerment and communal support.
