Ouagadougou: The special delegation of the municipality of Ouessa organized, on Saturday, February 7, 2026, a day of accountability during which it presented to the population the report on the execution of the municipal budget, management 2025.
According to Burkina Information Agency, Isma«l Sanogo, President of the Special Delegation (PDS) of the Ouessa municipality, stated that the meeting aimed to inform citizens about the management of local public resources in order to encourage their active participation in the municipality's development. Therefore, the budget execution report was presented.
The 2025 municipal budget amounts to 169,854,460 FCFA, balanced in terms of revenue and expenditure, with 92,710,402 FCFA allocated to operating expenses and 95,055,935 FCFA to investments. These resources have enabled the financing of several projects in the health, education, water and sanitation, security, and infrastructure sectors.
Among the achievements are the awarding of ten 25,000 FCFA scholarships to orphans and other vulnerable children, fuel support for the Defense and Security Forces (FDS) and the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP), the rehabilitation of the Kolinka maternity ward, and the acquisition of school supplies. However, difficulties related to mobilizing financial resources were noted. "The government halted investments in local mining development funds before certain contracts were awarded," explained the PDS.
This situation prevented the completion of certain planned activities, notably the finishing of three latrines and the conversion of the hand pump at the Langl e Health and Social Promotion Center into an autonomous water point. Discussions with participants focused on several concerns, including urban planning, access to water and electricity, the condition of roads, and the construction of a public primary school in Sector 1 of Ouessa.
The special delegation also presented the prospects for 2026, including monitoring the work to transform the Ouessa CSPS into a medical center, the construction of school infrastructure, the opening of access roads to the Langl e and Ham el e CSPS, the completion of the parking area and support for the work of the Faso Mªbo agency.
The local population welcomed the municipal government's efforts toward transparency. The meeting concluded with the president of the special delegation appealing to the residents and the diaspora to support the development efforts of the Ouessa municipality.
