Burkina faso: The Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Burkina Faso celebrated, Tuesday in Ouagadougou, the 47th anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution of Iran, under the banner of peace, stability, progress, and shared prosperity between the Iranian and Burkinabe peoples.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the ceremony brought together several government, diplomatic, and administrative figures, demonstrating the strength of bilateral relations between the two countries. Among the guests were the president of the Institute of Black Peoples and former Prime Minister, Apollinaire Kyelem Joachimson de Tambela; the Minister of State and Minister of Defense, Major General Celestin Simpore; the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Karamoko Jean-Marie Traore; and several other members of the government.
In his address, the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Burkina Faso, Mojtaba FaghiHi, welcomed the presence of the Burkinabe authorities, which he described as "a strong symbol of the friendship and stability of relations between Iran and Burkina Faso". He indicated that during his nearly three years of mission, he witnessed the leadership of the President of Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traore, particularly in the areas of security and economic development.
According to the Iranian diplomat, Burkina Faso is today an independent and confident actor on the regional and international stage, conducting a diplomacy based on sovereignty and the diversification of its partnerships. He also stressed that the economic performance recorded by the country, recognized by international financial institutions, is the result of wise policy and committed governance.
The ambassador affirmed that Iran supports the path of independence chosen by Burkina Faso and accompanies the efforts of the Burkinabe government to strengthen the foundations of its national power, particularly in the economic and social spheres. He also reiterated Tehran's support for the anti-terrorist actions carried out by Ouagadougou for the return of security throughout the territory.
Speaking about the dynamics of bilateral relations, the Iranian diplomat highlighted several advances, including the regular holding of political and economic consultations, the participation of Burkinabe authorities in Iran-Africa summits, and high-level exchanges in the security and policing sectors. These initiatives, he explained, reflect a shared desire to strengthen mutually beneficial cooperation.
Foreign Minister Karamoko Jean-Marie Traore emphasized that Burkina Faso and Iran share the same conviction: every nation is free to choose its own political, economic, and social model, without external pressure. He indicated that both countries are working towards a more just international order, based on the sovereign equality of states and respect for their people.
For the Burkinabe Foreign Minister, cooperation between Ouagadougou and Tehran is part of a new dynamic based on mutual respect and non-interference. He specified that several priority areas have been identified, including defense, health, agriculture, scientific research, and human capacity building. "We cooperate with those who respect our sovereignty and we build with those who believe in our partnerships," he said, adding that Burkina Faso extends a hand to all sincere partners, as part of its policy of diversifying its external relations.
The celebration of the 47th anniversary of the Islamic Revolution in Iran thus served as a framework to reaffirm the will of both States to consolidate their partnership for the benefit of their people and in the interest of a more stable and equitable world. On this occasion, the Burkinabe authorities extended their fraternal congratulations to the Iranian people, while expressing their hope that relations between Burkina Faso and the Islamic Republic of Iran would continue to be strengthened in peace, stability, and shared prosperity.
