ISTIC Trainees Encouraged to Learn from Mistakes During Masterclasses

Ouagadougou: The Director General of the Institute of Information and Communication Sciences and Techniques (ISTIC), Dr. Alizeta Ouoba/Compaore, has urged trainees to embrace the opportunity to learn from their mistakes during the masterclasses. This initiative is seen as crucial preparation for the significant responsibilities they will face in the fields of journalism and communication.According to Burkina Information Agency, Dr. Ouoba/Compaore emphasized the importance of these sessions, stating that the masterclasses are a safe environment where mistakes are not only allowed but are essential for learning. She highlighted the responsibilities associated with tools like the microphone, camera, and pen, and stressed the necessity of mastering techniques, ethics, and rigor in processing information and managing communication, skills that the trainees' supervisors aim to instill in them.The address by Dr. Ouoba/Compaore was delivered on Monday afternoon during the launch of the masterclasses. She encourag ed the trainees to fully engage in these learning and sharing moments to develop the boldness and creativity required in their professions.Dr. Sita Diallo/Traore, Director of Initial Training, explained that over the next seven weeks, 80 second-year trainee assistants and advisors across three programs will engage in real-world learning through workshops. These workshops are designed to uncover talent and motivate those who might be hesitant to step out of their comfort zones.The Institute of Information and Communication Sciences and Techniques, known as ISTIC, is recognized as the first journalism and communication training school in Burkina Faso. Originally established in 1974 as the Centre de formation professionnelle de l'information (CFPI), the institute plays a key role in the training and professional development of press professionals.
