Japan granted food aid worth 2.4 billion CFA francs to Burkina Faso on Thursday in Ouagadougou, AIb learned from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.The signing of the agreement took place between the Minister in charge of foreign affairs, Karamoko Jean Marie Traore, and the Japanese ambassador to Burkina Faso, Nagashima Jun.According to the Japanese ambassador to Burkina Faso, Nagashima Jun, this aid, which has increased by more than 500 million CFA francs compared to 2023, aims to support the Burkinabe government in managing the humanitarian crisis caused by insecurity.For the Japanese diplomat, this gesture of solidarity reflects Japan's commitment to maintaining dynamic cooperation with Burkina Faso. Minister Karamoko Jean Traoré said he was very satisfied with the vitality of bilateral relations which have lasted for more than 60 years, with notable achievements in the sectors of food security, agriculture, training, human capital and regional integration."This support will help meet current food a nd nutritional needs, while allowing our country to organize itself to ensure its food self-sufficiency," declared Minister Traoré.He also stressed that the agricultural offensive launched by the President of Faso, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, aims to achieve this self-sufficiency and guarantee the food sovereignty of Burkina Faso.Source: Burkina Information Agency
