Kadiogo: Burkinab¨ writer Dr. Abdallah Ou©draogo launched his first book, "Where All Seemed Lost: From Oblivion to Excellence Through Community Mobilization," in Ouagadougou on Friday. In this memoir, the author recounts the story of the transformation of the Gounghin 6 Urban Medical Center, thanks to the collective commitment of the local population and stakeholders.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the book, spanning 267 pages and divided into 13 chapters, narrates the different stages of a journey marked by difficulties, sacrifices, and successes. The chapters focus on themes such as "The departure towards disillusionment," "The shadow of the past," "Birth of the project and community mobilization," and "The consecration of a collective dream," among others.

Dr. Abdallah Ou©draogo explained that the book highlights an experience centered around a health development project initially deemed a failure but later revived through community solidarity. "We figured that the first people who could help us were ourselves. So we started with contributions and community actions to meet the challenge," the author stated.

The work is intended not only as a historical testimony but also as a source of inspiration for communities facing similar challenges. The representative of the Minister of Health, Dr. Adjima Combari, praised the initiative as a documentation of a successful local experience in health. He noted the perseverance of the leaders who did not give up despite obstacles, resulting in remarkable achievements.

Dr. Abdallah Ou©draogo, a doctor by training and also an artist and comedian, aims to impart values of perseverance, civic engagement, and solidarity to younger generations through this publication. The dedication ceremony included presenting certificates of recognition to partners and stakeholders who contributed to the achievement of the Gounghin 6 Urban Medical Center.
