Kadiogo: The youth of Sondogo contribute to cohesion through sport, a factor of unity and peace. The third edition of the Sondogo Youth Sports Days ended this Saturday, on a note of cohesion, solidarity and sporting fervor, around the theme: “Sport and citizenship: a united youth to build a Faso of tomorrow.”
According to Burkina Information Agency, the final of the Maracana tournament pitted Wembley FC against FC Les Retraites, and Wembley won 1-0, thus winning the trophy for this 3rd edition and a prize of 100,000 FCFA. Beyond football, the competition offered a variety of fun activities such as card games, Ludo and petanque, with prizes awarded to the finalists in each discipline.
The president of the organizing committee of this 3rd edition, Kinane Yacouba, praised the commitment of local youth and the growing involvement of partners. “We are an association of local youth, united by the desire to contribute to social cohesion and peace. This year, we had more than seven sponsors who accompanied us. We also provided support to the children of fallen FDS members and to destitute children through school kits,” he said.
The organizing committee also announced a contribution of 725,000 FCFA to the Presidential Initiative “Faso mebo”, thus marking its commitment to the ongoing national solidarity movement. Present at the ceremony, the sponsor of this edition, Simpore Bassibri, expressed his pride: “Sport brings people together, it creates bonds. This initiative is much more than a tournament: it is a symbol of living together and hope,” he confided.
The participation of traditional chiefs, numerous sponsors, and the strong mobilization of young people from the neighborhood testify to the growing success of this civic event, which aims to become a pillar of community development in Sondogo.
