Kampti: A Drinking Water Supply System to Improve Women’s Living Conditions

Kampti: A simplified drinking water supply (AEPS), carried out by the Graine de Paix Association at a cost of more than 3.4 million CFA francs, has been made available to the coordination of women in Kampti, in order to improve their access to water and their living conditions.

According to Burkina Information Agency, as part of the implementation of the Kapok project, the management committee of the Graine de Paix Association of Kampti transformed the women's coordination pump into a simplified drinking water supply system (AEPS). The provisional acceptance of the work took place on March 28, 2026, under the supervision of the Secretary General of the Kampti Town Hall, Bienvenu Compaore, in the presence of the President of the Special Delegation (PDS), members of the management committee, women beneficiaries as well as Esrom Some, representative of the Graine de Paix Association.

This achievement is part of the association's efforts to promote social cohesion through concrete actions in support of local communities, particularly women. Speaking next, the town hall secretary general made some technical observations to be taken into account for the improvement of the work, while also praising the initiative undertaken by the association.

For the Kampti women's departmental coordinator, Oho Mariette Kambire, this infrastructure is a real relief. She recalled the difficulties women faced in tending their gardens, forced to manually pump water and travel a distance of at least 80 meters for irrigation. 'Every morning and evening, the women had to pump water and walk a long distance to irrigate. This situation forced us to abandon the garden. Today, with this project, it's a new beginning and a renewed sense of pride,' she confided.

Representing the chairman of the management committee, the secretary general of the Graine de Paix Association, Evardo Yachine Hien, expressed his satisfaction with the project's completion. He emphasized that this achievement reflects the association's commitment to providing concrete solutions to the community's concerns. According to him, beyond access to drinking water, this project will contribute to strengthening the economic empowerment of women through the revival of market gardening activities, improving sanitary conditions and consolidating social cohesion within the community.

He further indicated that the association intends to continue its efforts by multiplying similar initiatives, while calling on partners and well-wishers to provide more support for this type of high-impact social action. With a total cost of over 3,400,000 CFA francs, this hydraulic infrastructure thus gives hope to the women of Kampti and consolidates the foundations of sustainable social cohesion.
