Sandbondtenga: The city of Kaya will host the second edition of the Rakiire Mang-Kaya and Allies Festival from March 27 to 29, 2026, under the patronage of the Minister of Communication, Culture, Arts and Tourism, announced the general coordinator, retired Colonel-Major Pascal Komyaba Sawadogo, on Monday during a press conference held in the city of leather and "coura-coura" kebabs.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the festival is themed "joking kinship, remedy to ethnic conflicts and social divisions between communities" and follows the first edition organized in 2025 in Manga. It aims to promote the cultural and social values of rakiire as a lever for social cohesion and peace, benefiting the communities of Kaya and Manga as well as the whole of Burkina Faso.
For three days, the festival will offer a varied program including cultural evenings, a public conference on joking kinship, a popular mobilization caravan, a community village, an exhibition of local know-how, popular entertainment, and a gala match symbolizing fraternity between communities.
The event will bring together not only the communities of Manga and Kaya, but also those of their allies, including Sapone, Pissila, Ziniare, Dagara, and the San and Gounroussi regions. Its aim is to strengthen intercommunal dialogue, transmit the values of tolerance to younger generations, and consolidate social peace.
Describing the festival as "a living symbol of dialogue, fraternity and resilience," the general coordinator invited partners, institutions, and the population to mobilize to ensure the success of this second edition.
