Kenedougou: The High Commissioner of the Kenedougou province, Sadou Sakira, initiated the 8th edition of the National Tree Day this Saturday in Orodara, focusing on the theme: ‘My concession, my tree’. The event was held at the High Commissioner’s residence and drew participation from administrative authorities, constituted bodies, technical services, and several actors engaged in environmental protection.
According to Burkina Information Agency, Idrissa Sanou, the provincial director of Water and Forests of Kenedougou, emphasized the day’s significance in promoting reforestation, restoring vegetation cover, and combating desertification. He highlighted that this year’s theme encourages every citizen to plant and care for at least one tree in their concession to enhance the living environment and protect the ecosystem.
High Commissioner Sadou Sakira praised the collective effort of various stakeholders in supporting this national initiative. He called on the population to adopt the theme by integrating tree planting and care into daily routines, not only in personal spaces but also in public areas and workplaces.
The provincial launch signifies the beginning of reforestation efforts in Kenedougou, aiming to bolster vegetation cover and support community resilience against the impacts of climate change.
