Kenedougou: The Banzon Plain Rice Producers Cooperative Society with Board of Directors (SCOOPS-CA) recorded a production of 1,975,646 tonnes of cereals of all types combined during the 2025-2026 agricultural season. This performance was presented on Thursday, July 2, 2026, during the Ordinary General Assembly of the cooperative, chaired by the president of the special delegation (PDS) of the commune of Banzon, Sie Poda.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the activity report, presented by the cooperative's secretary general, Issa Ganame, states that 632 active members have exploited the irrigated area through three production cycles: seasonal rice, wheat, and off-season rice. The cooperative also provided capacity building for 182 producers on topics related to composting, the System of Rice Intensification (SRI), and the use of plant protection products.

Those in charge of the facility noted that repeated power outages remain one of the main constraints to the proper functioning of the pumping facilities and to the control of irrigation. Despite these difficulties, the planned activities were carried out satisfactorily. The cooperative now aims to increase its production to 4,004 tonnes of cereals for the 2026-2027 season.

The Banzon Sie Poda District Directorate (PDS) commended the results achieved and the resilience of the producers. It urged agricultural agents to strengthen their technical support in order to further improve yields and performance in the plains.
