Kindi Awareness Campaign Highlights Dangers of Adulterated Drinks

Kindi:The people of Kindi were informed about the dangers of consuming adulterated drinks during a session held on Wednesday at the departmental high school of the commune. The event was presided over by the president of the special delegation (PDS) of Kindi, Yves Ahmed Sanou, and was attended by municipal authorities, citizen watchdog structures, customary authorities, education stakeholders, and local residents.

According to Burkina Information Agency, PDS Sanou praised the mobilization of the participants and emphasized the importance of combating the consumption of these dangerous products, which pose a threat to public health.

The secretary general of the town hall, Yacouba Soré, identified several contributing factors to the issue, such as stress, bad influences, and the proliferation of counterfeit drinks. He highlighted the severe consequences of consuming adulterated beverages, which include school dropout, increased illnesses, delinquency, and even death. Soré urged young people to avoid negative influences and places where these products are sold, while promoting the values of dignity and integrity.

Dr. Kadré Soré, the district health physician for Kindi, addressed the harmful effects of abusing adulterated beverages on the body, stressing the importance of prevention and recommending that the population avoid consuming these products.

The meeting also served to alert participants about the dengue fever situation in the community. The head of the Medical Center presented the main symptoms of the disease, such as headaches, joint pain, fever, intense fatigue, and eye pain. With no specific treatment available for dengue, the recommendation was made for symptomatic individuals to seek medical attention and avoid self-medication, particularly with anti-inflammatories.

The ceremony concluded with remarks of gratitude from the deputy headmaster, Donatien Diolompo, who represented the absent principal. It also featured a presentation of samples of adulterated beverages seized during recent inspections, which are scheduled for incineration in the coming days in compliance with regulations.
