King of Tenkodogo Increases Stake in People’s Shareholding Initiative

Tenkodogo:His Majesty Naaba Guiguempolé, Dima of Zoungrantenga and King of Tenkodogo, has increased his investment in the People's Shareholding (APEC) program. This move comes just eight days before the first phase of the initiative is set to close on October 31, 2026, highlighting his support for the presidential push towards economic sovereignty through community entrepreneurship.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the king's decision followed a visit from El Hadj Abdoul Kabiro Sana, president of the Union of Traders and Associates of Tenkodogo (UCAT), and Moubarak Bagagnan, regional coordinator of the Agency for the Promotion of Community Entrepreneurship (APEC). Naaba Guiguempolé emphasized his commitment to not just participate, but to take ownership of the initiative aimed at economic development.

The king mentioned the upcoming opening of a tomato processing plant in Tenkodogo, expected to start operations in the second week of November, contingent on suitable conditions. He urged the people of Nakambé and across Burkina Faso to increase their shareholdings in the initiative before the deadline to foster development and reap investment returns.

In addition to financial contributions, the Zoungrantenga District Minister encouraged local farmers, particularly tomato growers, to enlarge their cultivation areas to ensure a steady supply for the new industrial unit and improve their livelihoods. The regional coordinator of APEC, Moubarak Bagagnan, noted that the current campaign involves three community enterprises in Bobo-Dioulasso, Tenkodogo, and Gaoua.

El Hadj Abdoul Kabiro Sana, present at the meeting, also boosted his share and called on other economic operators to finalize their subscriptions at the Tenkodogo town hall.
