K©n©dougou: Traditional authorities and representatives of religious denominations in the K©n©dougou province participated in a training session on land rights and legal procedures in Orodara from May 29 to 30, 2026. The activity aimed to strengthen the capacity of community stakeholders for better prevention and management of conflicts related to the exploitation of natural resources.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the training was initiated by the NGO CARE in collaboration with the Orodara High Court. It is part of the MOPSS Program, funded by Swedish Cooperation and DANIDA, and implemented by a consortium including SNV, APESS, ROPPA, RBN, and Hub Rural. The Regional Director in charge of human rights for Guiriko, Armand H©ma, commended the participants for their commitment and encouraged them to engage closely with the presentations to enhance their roles in conflict prevention and social cohesion promotion within their communities.
The High Commissioner of the K©n©dougou province, Sadou Sakira, expressed gratitude to the organizers for selecting the province to host this significant capacity-building activity. He highlighted that land issues pose a major challenge for social peace and local development. Sakira emphasized the role of community leaders in conflict prevention and resolution, leveraging their close ties with the population to preserve land rights, promote dialogue, and strengthen social cohesion.
Sakira also urged participants to fully benefit from the lessons provided to become effective ambassadors for awareness and mediation in their localities. He noted that this initiative aligns with the national efforts to promote human rights, prevent conflicts, and consolidate peace through the increased involvement of communities in the sustainable management of natural resources.
Representing the participants, Issouf Traor© from Koloko appreciated the training, considering it timely. He stated that the knowledge gained would enable community leaders to better understand land-related laws and contribute more effectively to the peaceful resolution of disputes in their communities.
