Kombissiri: Elements of the central police station of the city of Kombissiri carried out an awareness campaign for female traders at the Kombissiri vegetable market on Tuesday, June 9, 2026. This action is part of the Yaka Police’s activities to prevent insecurity, incivility, and petty crime, among other things.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the female traders at the vegetable market in the town of Kombissiri received a visit from members of the town’s central police station led by the police commissioner, deputy central commissioner of the town of Kombissiri, Madi Ou©draogo. The visit to the vegetable market, located near the provincial headquarters of the national police in Baz¨ga, is part of the activities of the Yaka police, known locally as “neighbor” police in the Moor© language.
The objective is to raise awareness among the women occupying this market about potential security risks and the precautions to take to prevent them. This approach aims to bring the police closer to the people and strengthen trust between citizens and security forces, developing participatory security based on collaboration between the police and the population. It seeks to prevent insecurity, incivility, and petty crime through awareness and civic education.
During this outing, Comrade Madi Ou©draogo and his team invited female traders to take precautions to secure their goods, including merchandise, money, and equipment, and to report any suspicious activity. The saleswomen welcomed this action by the police, stating that the intervention reassures them and that the advice received will help them avoid issues related to theft.
According to the deputy central commissioner of the city of Kombissiri, this operation will extend into public places and even into the concessions of the city and the villages of the commune. These actions by the Yaka police in the coming days aim to promote the co-production of security, meaning the involvement of the population in the prevention and management of their own security.
