Koosin Center Sees 24 Learners Register for Dioula Language Certification

Koosin: 24 learners registered for the certification in the Dioula national language at the Denissa-Mossi Centre, with the exam scheduled for April 28, 2026. Among these learners, 23 are women and 1 is a man, all dedicated to promoting the use of Dioula within their communities.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the Denissa-Mossi Centre commenced its activities on February 18, 2026, with the aim of introducing participants to both transcription and the written form of Dioula. Recognized as a national language, Dioula serves as a vital communication tool across various sectors and plays a significant role in promoting traditional values.

Albert Zobon, the center's instructor, expressed a desire for the learners to become ambassadors of Dioula in their communities. To ensure they are well-prepared for the upcoming exam, a rigorous schedule has been implemented, with classes held from Monday to Friday.

The participants are driven by a strong motivation to advocate for Dioula in their markets and families, as highlighted by learner Assata Compaore. Mariam Ouedraogo, another learner, expressed pride in being among the first in the area to pursue such certification. Souleymane Sawadogo, the sole male participant, emphasized the importance of this endeavor, viewing it as a commitment to their identity and a potential model for language promotion within the community.

The sessions have been described as moments of collective pride, characterized by laughter and engaging discussions during transcription exercises, fostering a strong sense of community among the learners.
