Koosin: A training session was held from April 15 to 16, 2026, for teachers of elementary (CE) and middle (CM) classes, focusing on the importance of reading as a foundation for academic success.
According to Burkina Information Agency, the training initiative was prompted by observations made on individual improvement plans. Of the 16 plans submitted for improvement, thirteen highlighted issues with reading, underscoring an urgent need for action. To address this, Inspector Forazoun Saboue introduced the "how to catch up on reading" method, developed by supervisor Abdoulaye Traore.
This method progresses from recognizing letters to associating them with sounds, forming syllables, and eventually achieving fluent reading. It aims to address reading delays, particularly in advanced classes. Preliminary results from a mock exam in the first year of middle school (CM1) indicated a slight improvement in reading, though text analysis and problem-solving still require enhancement.
In response to these findings, the management team emphasized reading as crucial for academic success. Inspectors from the Basic Education District (CEB) urged teachers, especially those in CM1, to adopt Traore's method to better prepare students for school exams. The training concluded with teachers expressing a renewed commitment to overcoming challenges and improving academic outcomes within the CEB.
