Koudougou: Official Launch of Woman Day 2026

Koudougou: The Baodanere Association and Milania Events held a press conference on Saturday, February 28, in Koudougou, in preparation for the launch of the 4th edition of Woman Day, scheduled for March 7 and 8, 2026, in the city of the Red Rider. Placed under the theme "Women's empowerment and resilience: sustainable solutions for local and inclusive development," this edition aims to promote women's entrepreneurship and strengthen women's capacities for their socio-economic empowerment.

According to Burkina Information Agency, addressing members of the media, the president of the organizing committee, Ms. Sonia Zongo, a social and cultural entrepreneur, outlined the main features of the event. She indicated that Woman Day 2026 aims to be a platform for expression, training, and promotion of women's initiatives in the region.

Activities will begin on March 7 with free socio-professional training for 100 women, focusing on topics such as resin-based crafts, agri-food processing, financial literacy, and digital content creation. The objective is to equip beneficiaries with practical skills enabling them to develop income-generating activities.

March 8th will be marked by a masterclass and a public conference, gathering several hundred participants. Inspiring figures and panelists will share their experiences to encourage women to take control of their destinies and strengthen their resilience in the face of socioeconomic challenges.

Alongside communications, an awareness-raising space on gender-based violence will be set up, accompanied by free screening for breast and cervical cancer. The gala evening, dubbed "Night of the Model Woman," will conclude the event. At this event, ten local women will be recognized for their contributions to the region's development. A platform will also be provided for young women project leaders to present their initiatives before a jury, local authorities, and partners. The winning project will receive 500,000 CFA francs in funding.

The organizers emphasized that all activities (training sessions, conferences, awareness campaigns, and screenings) are entirely free, with the exception of the gala evening, which has an entrance fee of 5,000 CFA francs. Through this initiative, the Baodanere Association and Milania Events aim to mobilize all institutional stakeholders, technical and financial partners, as well as the general public, to make Woman Day 2026 a platform for concrete actions promoting women's empowerment and inclusive local development.

Partners and the public are therefore invited to mobilize massively to support this dynamic in favor of women's rights and leadership in Koudougou.
